As stated, it's a pity for such young men with a world of potentiality to strive to be average. This does not mean you must financially succeed in your 20s.

Yeah, I'm not saying anyone should strive to be average. I'm just saying that guys who are starting out early in life should not be pilloried because they haven't achieved greatness yet.

I was a late bloomer myself. When I was 21, I used to beat myself up over the fact that all my friends were making more money than I was. That later was reversed.

what you say holds true for women 18-25. When you get into women in their late 20s/30s, security/money matters.

Of couse, the manosphere at least heavily implies that women in their 30s have " hit the wall", and that the only truly desireable women are 18-24. Even Neil's dating a 22 year old, lol. So some might say what those women want don't count ( except for the betas that those women settle for). I mean that's not what I'm saying, but that's the standard PUA Theory model.

I was thinking of exactly this response when I was typing that. Saying that nothing you do is meant to attract women or make you more attractive to them is just a way to lie to yourself and stick your head in the clouds, but at least it's on the right track (not putting women first).

This is so true. On the open market you are not going to compete for top tier women if you are average.

Why? Because top tier women are not average and they don't settle for average. They are exceptional and expect to choose from exceptional.

It all gets back to the whole water seeks its own level thing. I understand that is a tough answer to hear but it is the absolute truth. What separates the men from the boys is who chooses to be motivated by the truth and pursue self improvement and who chooses to throw in the towel when confronted by the truth. Most men throw in the towel and call it good.

I agree with @zekko and others here that men should focus on being their best selves for themselves and for the intrinsic self growth that self improvement and self actualization brings. Women's affections are a natural byproduct of this process but should not be the end goal in and of itself. If women are a man's main focus and goal, a man is going to turn off women, and the whole thing becomes a nasty negative feedback loop.

Aspire to be the best you that you can be. Whatever that means. Actualize yourself.

I'm not sure 9 to 5 jobs are average anymore. I'm in i t on the people side. It's called holding down a job for a reason these days. The employers bring in third world labour to keep the rates down. That keeps the general heat up in the Pot and then the internal politics brings it to the boil. The managers use re-orgs to settle old scores and stuff the teams with their mates. There's at least one reorg every year. You don't survive that environment for long without building up serious skills

Anyway, like I was saying before, the guys who are making $60K are above average. if you say that they are bums, undesirable, etc, you are simply putting up women and being a gigantic white knight. It serves those in control to have those controlled competing for favor. When men say "We can all become what women want by being X and doing Y!" some will "win", which is the lure that both keeps men playing womens' game for them and masks the fact that they are doing so. The problem is, males are designed to expend themselves for females in this way and your biology will make you feel strong urges to keep playing if you try to resist or quit. None of us is truly doing what we want, women are always a consideration in our behavior. I think the only cure for it is ironically women themselves, interacting with them to the point where your mind has experienced so much frustration and pain for so little reward from its dealings with them that it gets re-conditioned like touching a hot stove and dampens the urges.

Hmmm. I think the only cure is to take their game and play it better than them, turn the tables.
