Why is it that women seem to be such attention seekers compared to (straight) men? Really seems like only women (and flamboyant gay guys) dress provocatively, post skanky chit on insta, etc. and it's fkn annoying. Is there some science behind this or something?

Women's historical survival strategy revolves around conformance and being in the in-group. When there is a war and a country has been conquered, women must be able to fit in with the new paradigm because they aren't capable of physical resistance. It's either conform and submit, or be raped/killed.
Also, a woman's power hinges heavily on her beauty. A man's power hinges on his physical power and knowledge.
As for gays... well that's a modern scenario that doesn't really have a direct historical correlation.

A relative lack of agency is at play too imo. If you can get sh1t done on your own, what do you need attention for?
This dynamic gets old to be around. We had a group lunch today and one of the women that went got dressed up to the nines. Usually she hates birthdays and never celebrates anyone. Well with the pandemic, her daily dose of attention has died. Today she shows up in tight jeans and a super tight top. Since a few of us know she is a covert narcissist attention hoe, we don’t give her a single compliment or pay her much attention. My thought was, nice you dressed up but none of us are fvcking you so what’s the point? When women do this type of thing it‘s pathetic. She dressed up to feel good about herself but also to fish for compliments. Feels like she is trying to use us to boost her ego.

They do it to boost their own egos and feel like they have value.
When you see this behaviour it's best to basically ignore them.

Male attention is their life blood, well any attention (E.g. female too). But especially male attention. They need to be validated that they are good enough and hot enough for their own ego. Take a way your male attention and they are like a flower without sunlight. it will wither and eventually die. Same with girls, if you take away the attention they will go mad and eventually break down.
