Asking to Prom

When im gonna ask a girl to a prom, should i just start a convo , then ask , or just walk straight up and ask. Walking straigh up and ask kinda seems awkward to me, and i dont how to start a convo that will lead into prom. plz help.

You're probably a shy guy so what I would do if I were you: go up to her and say something like "Hey, what's up *girls name*. Can I talk to you for a minute?"

Then just pull her aside to a more private spot so you don't feel nervous around her friends (but don't go too far...) and ask. Search the site or the DJ Bible for ways to ask if you need help on that...

What is the best way to ask to prom without seeming needy/wussy/ and to keep the power? When you ask a girl something like "will you go out with me/marry me/" you give them the power and hand them your balls and they can smash them easily. How can this be done and still seem powerful? This isn't a normal date thing. You can really say "I'm going to prom, you should come" its different.

Girls don't care if you ask them to Prom (unless they have someone in mind), but anything further bothers them.

Just be like "So who you goin to prom with?", or some variation of that, if they say no one yet, they'll then most likely ask who you're going with. You follow up with "Yea I haven't asked anyone yet either. How bout you and I go together?" or just "Yea same her, you wanna go with me then?". Anything like that will work, just say it in a real casual way like you don't care what she says and it's almost an offhand thing. Act like you're only asking her to go cause you were on the subject of prom. It's debateable whether or not that will improve your chances of her saying yes, but if she says no (most will not though if they know you and don't have a particular person in mind) it will make it much less awkward.


BTW, for a prom at the end of May, around when should I start looking to ask a girl? I'm a junior and haven't been before so I'm not sure when you're supposed to ask.

Note: only say this if you actually haven't asked anyone else... girls talk... it'll blow up.

Is it better to ask in person, or over the phone? I might not be able to do it over the phone, from being busy already. But in person I can use body language and kino to help. If I wait too long all of them will get taken.

Anyways to the original poster, I simply just ask "do you want to go to prom with me". Might not work that easily on a random chick, but I'd ask a girl I know already.

Maeisgood: there is nothing wussy about just asking. If you stutter and stammer, it's wussy, but if you ask it in a confident tone, no problems.

Maybe ive been brainwashed by collegiate society... but inviting someone to a black tie event out of the blue doesnt seem right. I really want some opinions on this, too.

It is a well known fact that even fat kids **** their prom dates... so when a girl gets asked by a DJ she is agreeing, at least to the idea, of sex. So shouldnt you wait till youve been on a good date with a kiss close to ask a girl to prom?

I agree with Tony here that you should atleast have gone on a date with her or something maybe doesnt have to be a kiss close. I think you should atleast know each other somewhat and not just ask some random girl.

You don't need to have gone on a date with the girl to ask her to prom. Just ask a girl you know, she can be a good friend, or just an acquaintance (but not just some random girl you don't really even know).

And not everybody f*cks on prom night. I think that's more a cliche than reality. It really depends on how into you the girl is, how far she's been/is willing to go, and how much alcohol she's had.

If a girl is interested in you she may bring it up in a conversations ie;"so whop are you taking to prom" or "are you going to prom" i'llpost the conversation i had on yahoo messenger when i got my prom date. this was a girl I've know for a while-shes probably an hb8-

me-"No idea...don't have a date yet."

her-"got anyone in mind?"

me-"not really just anyone who wants to go"( i say this becuase i know she wants me to ask her)

If you are not confident that you have the girl's interest yet, do NOT start out a convo about prom. Talk about something positive that builds GREAT rapport (a meaningful convo) and then bring up prom. She'll be in that positive, lovey-dovey mindset when you hit her with the question. Therefore, you will get the best response possible.


If she likes you already, by all means just ask when appropriate.

What if the girl declares before you get a chance to ask that she does not want to go to prom? Is this one of those test/challenges girls have or something? I was thinking of saying something like "oh, I like challenges." There is another who said that if I asked her, she'd go with me but there's one who doesn't have a boyfriend who isn't nasty I want to go with.
