Are women the better looking of the sexes?

Maybe alot has to do with the fact that I am a heterosexual male who is naturally attracted to women. However, doesn't it seem like there are alot more attractive women out there than there are men?

How would a heterosexual male know? He'll check out more chicks than guys. So obviously he'll see more "better looking" chick. How can you even compare looks? Men and female look pretty different to me.

looks and attraction are mostly subjective. but if by better looking you mean, easy on the eyes or colorful or something, then its really a toss up. this whole post is confusing me i better go

i personally am straight... but i believe beauty can be found in both sexes... to me, a man with the right body proportions and musculature with a strong featured face is considered "beautiful". Leonardo's statue of david is a good example of this. Or why would so many guys want to aspire to look like brad pitt? Lets face it we all see which guys are good looking and which are not, otherwise guys on here wouldn't be crying about being ugly. on average,there are more attractive females than males... but because we function for different purposes. men are supposed to be strong and tough, and women soft and gentle. I find having a pretty face and a manly body makes one appealing to the women.

True, makeup does do wonders. I remember seeing this hot shot girl my roomate was sleeping with. With her makeup on she was like a 9. I remember running into her in a Burger King (without makeup) and she looked like a totally different person.

women may have an edge on us in looks as humans, but look in the animal world. it's often times the male is the more colorful and beautiful of the species.

i think males are originally designed to be more colorful and flawnty of the species. men in ancient times used to wear make up and all type sof colorful clothes.

I think guys are better looking.

We don't have to wear make-up or do things that superficially make us look good. Instead we come on forums like this to learn C+F and gain confidence. When guys want to look better (not emo ones), they hit the gym. When girls want to look better, usually, they have plastic surgery, lipo, wear make-up, put on tighter clothes, etc. All fake. I'm completely straight, but I think women are far uglier.

so you're saying its the effort people make to look more attractive? therefore if a person makes more effort to look more attractive then they are compensating for their lack of looks. so if a woman wears no makeup and takes 20 minutes getting ready to go out, then she is on level with the attractiveness of a man who takes 20 minutes? (assuming they are both the same rating like an 8)

men do not (on average) wear makeup to cover up flaws such as acne, wrinkles, etc. if women did not wear it, we'd get a much better picture of how they compare to us. lets not forget womens clothing is also designed to enhance the female body's appearance ( pushup bras, low rise jeans)

I just saw knocked up over the weekend and this thread made me think of one of the lines in it. The older sister in the movie was *****ing about how it was unfair that as women get older they get ugly and saggy while men get better looking.

How many good looking girls do you guys see over 40? A lot of the guys you see ranked in magazines as the most beautiful are older, while the women are all usually under 35 or so with a few exceptions.
