"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

I'm just playing devil's advocate, so don't flame me. Think about it:

1. Waits at least six days to call her after getting the number but he has a hard time waiting at least six minutes.

2. Surrounds himself with several women, when he would rather be with just one.

3. Watches football with the guys when he'd rather be playing touch football with the girl.

4. Withholds complimenting the girl even though she looks great everytime he sees her.

5. Keeps himself busy when he would rather be getting busy.

6. Neghits the girl when he would rather be hitting on her.

7. Does the "****y and funny" routine but feels "tingly and funny" every time she is near him.

8. Blasts Snoop Dogg in his car when the windows are rolled down, but plays some Luther Vandross when the windows are rolled up.

9. Writes the girl off when he would rather be writing her poetry.

10. Nexts the girl when she flakes but still wonders when he will see her next.

What do you think?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Agreed completely. I think this describes anybody who looks at this stuff as black and white.

But a true DJ does what he desires and desires what he does.

I dont think so. if you wanna dig deep enough, all DJs carry "AFC habits" that need to be kept in check. But I dont think a true DJ is ever in denial over his being a DJ. if he wanted to play Luther Vandross with the windows down, he would do it!

"Does the "****y and funny" routine but feels "tingly and funny" every time she is near him."
This sounds like something out of one of those "what a perfect boyfriend would do" chain emails

I think if you're trying to be something you're not, in any shape or form, then it's wrong. Go with what you feel.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

There are so called "DJ rules", you touched on a few in your post.

A repressed AFC follows the guidelines because he needs something to hold his hand.

A true DJ does what he has to do within reason. He follows his own rules and paths to success.
