Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

hi guys, first time posting here and just very, very depressed with major oneitis at the moment.

i love this community, and i always come here to read what people are talking about, but today i feel a severe need to ask for a nudge in what i already know is the right direction

i've been super infatuated with this girl who is an anorexic cutter, despite the fact that i have many other options, and she has been giving me the runaround for a while. textbook hot/cold push/pull ****. a couple days on, a week off, all that. i just need a reminder that getting seriously involved with someone who exhibits that behavior is a bad idea. i am so low today and it would really help, especially if anyone has personal experiences with this

thanks guys

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

Uhh.. you need a reminder?

Cutter? Esteem issues, depression, dramatic, bat**** crazy. You get drawn in, and you may get threats like "I can't handle it if you do this..." with implications of suicide. Will talk about how she hates herself, sometimes wishes she was never born, and will draw you into supporting her by victimizing herself, and then push you away and make you feel like ****.

Anorexic? More esteem issues, doesn't know how to take care of herself, self-obsessed, etc etc.

In other words, you seriously -need- a reminder to avoid a potential psychopath, a completely crazy woman?

sounds like you have the savior complex, get all that sh it out of your head, you cant help her and this girl is going to give you nothing but problems

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

I once fell for a cutter.

She wasn't a cutter at the time she was a cutter before we met, I only found out afterwards.

When I first met her she was in normal mode and was a very friendly person and seemed to be quite into me, we had fantastic chemistry. But when she started to slip back into her darker mode (and I found about about the cutting, anorexia etc.) it all got quite dark and she messed my mind up pretty bad at the time. I won't go into detail or I would be here all day.

Stay away from them, they are poison.

amazing how much it can mess with your mind, isn't it? i hardly ever get shook when someone runs hot/cold but this one has brought me to my knees.

that's why i posted here... i can get really lost in my head with this one and she's doing an expert job of come-here-go-away. i really want to beat it.

Leave him alone, man. This should be a place of support. Give him a harsh dose of reality, but don't hamper him in trying to learn.

At that, man, run, not walk, away from this. You know deep down that this is bad for you. Get away BEFORE it gets worse. Simple. Just stop. Stop contacting her, she tries to hang out, tell her you are busy. Draw yourself away. Let her deal with her problems, you deal with yours.

My ex.. good god, she had so many issues, I can quote her in a lot of stuff, but anyways.. she was a cutter at one point in her life. She tilted near suicide at a couple points, she was depressive at times, she was manipulative, all these girls are just ****ed up in the head. You have to avoid them. There's no 'want', or 'should', you HAVE to avoid them if you want to remain stable, sane, and happy.

Run, not walk. Get out of it. Go hit on other chicks. Doesn't matter how much you think about her, just get away. Don't fall victim to our instincts to protect and save her.. all it will do is draw you into the pit.

thanks again pluto. i'd like to get out of it without causing a scene and being dramatic about the whole thing so that's what i'm working on now. would love to make a smooth exit that i can feel proud of...

You probably saw the unusual sight (these days) of a thin woman and was mesmerized.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

I would direct her to medical and psychological help if possible.

yeaa I went with a girl for a while who had body image issues (mostly anorexia) and while she was alright (and fun in the sack), she was kinda crazy and dramatic. I'd never date one seriously or get involved but i'd sleep with em for a short while...

I was on a date once. She was pretty cool and I was considering another date when she moved to stretch in her chair and I saw razor blade scars on both wrists.

Never called her again.

"You Can't Argue a Woman Into Liking You"

You made your case like a lawyer. Stable job. Good guy. Ready for something real. All true. All irrelevant.

She weighed your points, nodded along, felt nothing — then fell hard for some tattooed bartender with a motorcycle and a gambling problem.

Logic is where attraction goes to die. The "22 Rules" work a level deeper, on the subconscious switches that decide within minutes whether you register as a MAN or as part of the furniture.

Stop presenting evidence. Start flipping switches.
