And this is the key. If you're exclusive, you're not going to scare her away with your "intentions" by buying her a gift. Your best bet is to get her a card from the dollar store. If she bails on you for Valentine's Day, you're out one dollar. If you don't want to be out that dollar, avoid personalizing the card and use it for next year.

A card is great for playing it safe. If she gets you something, at least you got her a card. If she gets you nothing, then you're not going to give her the wrong emotional reaction because you're going to throw the $1 card instead of giving it to her.
