A Question About Hot Babes?

Often times on this site, I will somebody describe a woman as a HB 7.5, HB 7, or even a HB 6.5, or HB 6. Hell I saw somebody describe a chick as a HB 5. My question is, isn't describing a woman as HB that's less than an 8 (and argument can be made against an 8 being a Hot Babe,) a misnomer or a contradiction in terms?

Yes, it technically is. But we just keep ONE abbreviation for all women for simplicity. Just look at the number, not the letters .

The really confusing thing is to realize that everyone else's HB8+ is your HBI'mNotInterestedInHer.

Having a number's scale implies universality. If you ever sit down with your friends and discuss where women rank, the numbers will be different. At least, that has been my experience.

Theories of attraction don't measure attraction, they measure people's social-consensus appraisals of other peoples' looks. This could be more accurately called 'cuteness'. Women judge one another's cuteness all the time, but because they aren't actually sexually attracted (Im assuming!), they are just judging 'cuteness'. Until you actually want to have sex with the person or be physical with them, you are not attracted. They were not measuring attraction to the computer generated faces, they were measuring 'perceived cuteness' which is something different in my experience.

Technically -- and I remember this from alt.seduction.fast -- you're not supposed to use "HB" with anything lower than an 8. Some used to use it with 7s but that was frowned upon. 6s and below an absolute no-no.

These days the HB is used less to refer to "hot babe" than it is to indicate that the number following it is referring to the attractiveness of a woman. Still pretty strange to see with 5s and 6s though.
