There are very few pure somatypes (endomorphs,ectomorphs,mesomorps)
Most people are a mix of two. Meso-Ecto or Endo-Meso.
Somatypes are genetic stuff by the way. e.g. If you are big now but skinny 2 years ago, you'd still be an ectomorph.
Basically there are 2 kinds of hypertrophy(muscle growth).
Low rep training (1-4 reps) is for myofibrilar hypertrophy( actual growth of the muscle fiber/ mostly strength) which is 80% of the muscle.
and Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy (4-6 reps, growth of everything else, e.g. water levels...

You're absolutely right.
It's perfectly fine to load for a week until your muscles are saturated with it but it's not necessary.
