He is to this day a close and very trusted friend, and I don't recall him ever lying to me, this is not a mere acquaintance. I was in school and in the neighborhood with him at the time, I know of the neighbor of which he speaks, and I don't find it surprising. She had a reputation and there were some things going on around her house which people were aware of. It sounds consistent with other behaviors I've observed from her, and consistent with behaviors I've seen from him. And again remember, this happened in the '70s, when attitudes were much different. I don't doubt his story at all.

I guess my point is that it appears this was a positive experience for him, whether it was a crime or not.
