This scenario probably would have played out a week ago if they didn't care about civilians.

Putin is not trying to conquer ukraine and keep it, he's just trying to force regime change to something favorable to him. Although I may well be proven wrong on this count.

Despite the US military being turned into a woke joke, the US would still crush russia in a conventional war, and the russians know this. Russian military equipment is so badly maintained that it's breaking down all over the ukraine. The US would be beyond foolish to get directly involved, and this war is basically the US' fault anyway.

But it makes a nice distraction at home from the disaster that is the US economy. Funny how Covid is a non-issue just like that.

Personally, I don't want any wars. Not for hippie-loving reasons, but because it's not productive. I'm an advocate for innovations and entrepreneurship. This is neither. Just power hungry guys at the top doing the same-ole thing. I reckon most people in the world are tired of stuff like this. None of this is being fought over anything personal to us.
