Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."
You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.
She's been waiting forty minutes.
Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.
Attraction runs on a clock.
She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.
The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."
One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.
Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.
I agree...Or... it could be a real, dire situation where a lot of people will get hurt in various ways (their health, their finances, perhaps their life). And it could also be that those in power are using it to their advantage.
Doesn't have to be one or the other.
The latter doesn't necessarily invalidate the possibility that brute force mitigation is one of the few effective public health tools we have left until new developments unfold.
Heh, I remember a FB post from not long ago: "Last week was the longest month of my life!"I agree...
I've been over most of the possible angles. The unfolding truth, is taking it's sweet time to reveal itself.
Time will tell.
Lmao the title of this thread and the mess we're in
Just 2 months ago you would not have believed it. Yet here we are
Also I heard eye protection was just as important if not more so
You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.
For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.
Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.
The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.
That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?
She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."
She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.
I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.
Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
The current recommendations are just to cover your face with something, a scarf or whatever - while still maintaining the six feet distance. It's just to keep people from spitting droplets on each if they talk to each other. They're not telling you to wear the real masks because they want to save those for the health care workers. If you want to actually filter out the viral matter from the air, you need a cartridge respirator. Anything else, if it filters any at all, it is just by luck. And whatever gets filtered by the mask is now stuck to it on your face.
Same, but I only drive by hospitals to see if the are any more cars than the day before:I grow more skeptical daily. I work in hospitals. They are empty
She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.
You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.
She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.
The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.
And yet my ex (who is a primary care physician) is being tapped to pinch-hit for the hospitalists to handle the uptick here. But I'm sure it's a hoax.I grow more skeptical daily. I work in hospitals. They are empty
The virus within the droplet is 0.01 micron. It will easy go through the material; especially if there is force breathing it in. Could it hurt wearing a mask? No, of course not. But it may not help much either.Except from what I've been reading, it's not about filtering out the virus particles, which is why any face covering will do. Airborne transmission (via aerosols) is different than droplet transmission. Face coverings are primarily about reducing the spread of droplets from the wearer. My impression is that virus transmission via droplets isn't a terribly controversial concept, and why would reducing the efficacy of a likely infection vector be a bad thing?
The following is something of an 8th-grade reading-level article, but it has decent references to their sources and I don't have time to dig up anything more authoritative at the moment:

The Many Ways That Germs Are Transmitted
From droplet to airborne, how germs are transmitted can vary depending on the type of bacteria or virus. Here's what you need to know to protect yourself.www.verywellhealth.com
Well, his wife divorced him, took everything. How much does a trailer like this guy has cost?
You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.
Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.
Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.
Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
