it would be Ryan Goslings character in ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’. The character he portrays (Jacob) is exactly what men are striving and honing their skills to become like here.

Good movie too.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

He does seem to be a kind of cardboard cutout of a PUA type. But don't forget he falls in love with Emma Stone in the movie (well, I'm not going to blame him, she's kind of hot, and I'm partial to redheads). But Steve Carrell doesn't want him near his daughter, since he knows what kind of guy he is.

That movie starts out all right, but Steve Carrell's beta speech at the end is downright embarrassing. I don't remember exactly what he said (at his son's graduation), but IIRC he basically advocates sacrificing all self respect to chase your one true love, no matter how many times she rejects you.

It's kind of funny the older girl he has a crush on sends him some explicit pics though.

Yes, Steve Carroll’s character learns self respect and becomes the man he wants to be, then he reverts back to his horribly embarrassing ways to a woman who cheated on him. With the walk away of love conquers all.... and soul mate crap.
And the speech at the end is so brutal. There are a couple of other parts too; such as his ex figuring out he’s slept with the teacher during the parent teacher interviews. When in reality he could have used that to his advantage as she felt competition anxiety and really just wanted him back. But then he went full wimp mode and begged for her forgiveness in front of everyone humiliating himself in that process! Even though she cheated on him and they weren’t together?!!

Plus every other guy aside from goslings character is full blown beta. The movie advocates that it is bad to be a man and do what you like, and that the woman holds the reigns essentially. Mostly puke inducing overall; but women and blue pills will be very rapturous towards it.

Even though gosling hitches with Emma in the end, he is still choosing her. At some point every alpha, game savvy guy will settle with one who he deems worthy. And he deemed her worthy.
Also note: this character was one which played heavily in to goslings now ‘sexy man’ persona the general public revers him as.

Do it sets the expectation for what "true love" is supposed to be? Sick.

First half of Crazy, Stupid, Love was fantastic. Second half was pretty bad but yeah Ryan Gosling is a pretty good example.

For me personally, it's Don Draper if you ignore the fact that he's playing a character within that character.

Don Draper and Hank Moody both cheated and had drinking problems. Yes they were masculine in their energy and went for what they wanted; however that came with its own price(s), and they had too many vices/personal issues.
Also, Don Draper was a facade. A makebelief character he created, much like his own contrivances within the firm.

If one created an alter ego within their own dating life; I bet you could do many things you may deem currently difficult, as it’s a disassociation of self in a way; a mask so to speak. Alter egos can be a powerful tool. (There’s examples of a few athletes using sunglasses, headbands, bandanas, or arm bands, etc, which creates an alter ego).

I once pretended to be Australian for three weeks for fun when I was 22. It was a very interesting experiment. Because it brought out a different part of my personality and if I was rejected in any form, it wasn’t me as flowtheory being rejected, but the Australian being rejected. So in a way, I - my true self - was protected and in turn my identified self was left intact and unharmed. I still learned from that rejection, just without the hurricane winds which could sweep away some form of my internal well-being.

I've never watched that series, but had heared it mentioned several times.......so I watched a couple of clips...
it's a bit convoluted no?

I mean granted it's a show and the writers will make him out to be whatever way they want.......but walking into a church
and getting head off a nun......or walking into a porche dealership and telling the woman to go away and she ends up stroking him....

....I haven't seen it all....but seems a little far fethced

Lol sounds awesome even if unrealistic. Now I have to check it out.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
