The Alpha / Beta Male. Is It Possible To Be Both?

You hear a lot about the Alpha and Beta male attitudes. But I am wondering if there is not something that would be considered the best of both?

I have known both types but I have also know those who display both the alpha and beta characteristics. For instance, I have worked with some that are extremely self confident yet have difficulty in getting dates. They avoid conflict, yet they have natural born leader qualities. They sometimes over compensate in order to be liked by others, yet admit that they don't give a damn what others think about them. These are just three observations I have made.

What do you think? Can there be the best of both alpha and beta rolled into one?

everyone has traits of both, you've just gotta find the balance that works for you (whether that's 90-10 alpha/beta or 50-50)

The problem is that the two terms are very limiting and if we are to use the two terms we must go by the assumption that we all agree on the definitions of said terms and we either assume or omit a myriad of other traits and possibilities (Are we assuming alpha means red pill, even though there are clearly alphas with a blue pill mentality........do we disregard Machiavellianism....or do we include it in our definitions.........

I like the old Doc Love's spectrum on men......

On one end of the spectrum you have....

Wimpus Americanus (which I guess qualifies as the BETA): he's just too happy to be there. "I'm having a good time are you?" He's a yes man, just too damn eager to please........too needy and falls for the woman too easily. No backbone, women can't respect him. Too keen to keep the peace. Passive aggressive. Weak boundaries with holes everywhere....i.e. a doormat......Fears violence.

Then on the other end of the spectrum you have....

Macho boy (perhaps the Thug Alpha)........No compromise, quick to anger and jealousy. Prone to bar fights etc too extreme. Aggressive. Boundaries wall too high. Nobody can get in. Loves violence and prone to it.

Then somewhere perhaps a little past the middle you have....

The Gentleman......(perhaps The positive Alpha)......Classy, elegant, assertive........is not afraid of conflict....(sees conflict as positive.....there's a bump in communication, let's resolve it). The word NO comes out of his mouth when necessary. Strong defined boundaries, but with doors. Capable of violence where necessary, avoids where possible.

In this case, if one develops one's character, career, finances, social ability, politics (machiavelli) and ability with women (game) I really don't see how one could fluctuate between the three (or the two above as the case maybe).

A butterfly can never go back to being a caterpillar.....

Yes, women love to settle for beta males with some alpha traits. Basically, it's a male willing to commit to them and has a decent income, e.i. good provider potential who is not a complete whimp and that could be any number of traits such as the ones already mentioned. In reality, the alpha male is an objective term and it pertains to sociological order more than anything. If the men around you respect you and the females find you desirable - alpha. Everything else is either beta, omega, ...zeta. It's literally that easy.

It is not black and white. However, the more alpha you become, the better you make your life and the better you game, it is a bit harder to show a lot of beta features, I guess.

In reality, the alpha male is an objective term and it pertains to sociological order more than anything. If the men around you respect you and the females find you desirable - alpha. They aren't necessarily settling for them. They like fvcking alpha males for instinctual and biological reasons but yet they instinctively know those males are not to be trusted and not good for long term relationships. So I don't think it's settling, more like what a woman wants in the moment isn't the same as what she wants long term

women love the idea of taming an alpha male, except that if they succeed in taming a man he turns into a beta, they do not understand that allowing himself to be tamed is what turns a man into a beta

Yes, you understand why women are their own worst enemy when they are in a LTR if they try to tame the man.
If she manages to do so, she loses her respect and quite a few other things she felt about her man and starts looking for branches.…
