Carl Froch (champion boxer) used to see him around a lot in Nottingham before he became famous

My martial arts trainer ran a gym with one of his buddies in the late 80's to early 90's. They had an open challenge that every Saturday morning, they would open the gym and fight anyone who showed up. This was pre-UFC, and before there were even toughman competitions, also before the state began regulating fights like they do now. The word spread about the two crazy guys who would fight anybody, and every Saturday morning a new car load of challengers would roll up. I asked him if they ever lost, and he said, "No. Not at our gym." But one group of guys told them about a guy in Kansas City who could beat their asses, so they jumped in a car and drove eight hours to KC. They knocked on the guy's door, and a little Japanese man opened it. He looked like Mr Miagi from The Karate Kid.

I asked him what happened next. "Oh that old man beat the sh!t out of us! He was grabbing fingers and bending them backwards; he knew every dirty trick there was, and neither of us wanted to punch him because he was old." They were just glad to meet someone who could teach them something.

Probably a man that fought less with his hands but more with his mind. A pastor that built a billion dollar non-profit from nothing. He taught me that if you get knocked down get back up and press on. He was a hard ass, but if you worked hard and proved yourself he would reward you. I worked closely with him everyday and he was very generous with me.

Eventually he was booted out by the board of directors. They also booted out his most loyal employees. I was kicked to the curb with him and many others. Oh well get back up and move on.

A serious alpha male, that got married and had kids. Worked his bollocks off to provide for us, then got divorced because my mother decided he was "too possessive".

Seriously sorts me out sometimes when I am being daft. A legit alpha.

A proper "hard-man" too. Got sent to borstal for demolishing someone at a party with a frying pan

I learn from his mistakes, as well as his wisdom.

my old kickboxing/boxing trainer. he was a co founder of one of the top mma gyms in the world right now, he is a true badass. he owned a construction company that he ran during the day to make his real money, then he would drive a beer truck to the gym at night to teach classes and give private lessons to fighters. one of the manliest guys ive ever met.

It was a power struggle. His daughter aligned herself with some of the higher echelon employees and some board members. Funny thing is after they got rid of him she thought she would lead the organization. They kicked her ass to the curb too. She was to stupid to realize that she was being used. Now the organization has shrunk to about 25% of what it once was.

That's sad. Corruption destroys everything. They were probably stealing the money and knew that the pastor would get in the way of things had he found out.

Well I went to Saint johns in Nottingham and we had an amateur boxing program that I stayed in until I was about 18. First couple of times I met Froch was at training nights, back then he was still a novice pro but he had a good amateur career and he'd give speeches on training mentality etc.

It wasn't until I was about 20 I saw him hitting pads and it was like a whole other ball game to anything I'd seen for the amateurs and local pros. There was always a buzz that he could be "Commonwealth champion" which is laughable looking back.

I trained with him 5-6 times and he always remembered me when I'd cross paths with him in the mall or at a bar, no reason to remember me just a humble dude.

Even when he won his first world title people still doubted him, he was doubted his whole pro career actually for being "slow" (he was not slow)

The funny thing is his on screen persona, since everyone bashed him and doubted him for no reason he's essentially been trolling his haters for 10 years.

All round top guy though and very mentally strong.
