This is a comment on an article that I have posted earlier, but since it's a classic, I just had to make a thread about it in its own right.

The original article:

The fact is that women give up much more than men to get married, period, especially when children come along. Something most people dont like to think about and certainly dont like to talk about. In this country especially, young women and young men are still socialized to the antiquated concept that homecare and childcare are a woman's domain and that the man is the primary provider. This idea is ingrained in us and fomented during our formative years that in our adulthood we actually believe this crap. Even in a household in which both partners work there the household duties tend to be weighted toward the woman. When women become mothers they are then expected to be super moms. The unequal divorce court results from these antiquated ideas that assume the mother is the better parent, no matter what. When fathers start actively and publicly parenting more, society's views about parenting will change and so too will divorce court and the rate of divorce.
And it gets better ...

Your sweeping generalization that women standing next tot heir partner to get married are being disingenuous is itself disingenuous. Further, there are A LOT of reasons people file for divorce. To judge someone for being unhappy and filing for divorce is just silly, youre not in their shoes. Why should women be forced to be unhappy? In this day and age, the reason more women file for divorce is because they have more opportunities, they dont need men to provide financially for them. A lot of women divorce because they end up with an unfair portion of all the duties and sometimes there is just no going back. They realize their unhappiness will not be corrected without changing the situation they are in.
Oh, how I would love to come home to that! :trouble:

How much you want to bet that this chick will be going through the sperm donor catalog when she hits 35?

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.
