Would you learn French or Russian?

Hi, what language would you want to learn?


1.) For Coolness Factor

2.) For Job Opportunities (i.e, job in government such as translator/interpreter


For those who speak one of these languages or other languages please feel free to comment.

BTW, I minored in German and regret it. German is not very useful outside of Central Europe and not really for jobs (unless we are talking engineering or automotive)

French, simply for the women.

Even though France is as liberal as it gets and they mostly hate Americans....They have some of the sexiest most beautiful women in world. IMHO anyways.

Well French wouldn't really give you any cool points. Honestly though I've never met a woman who says she thinks French is sexy, it's only on tv where you see women saying French is sexy. In real life, never heard it.

As for Russian, that's definitely going to gain you some cool points but I heard it's very difficult to learn. Not too sure if you could get government jobs as interpreters because Russian immigrants would be preferred over an American because they know the language better.

If you really really wanted to do something different, why not try Arabic?

Chinese could be useful in business because most of the stuff nowadays is made in China. Threecountriesplan is from China although he is American, says it's cool there.

Russian is not difficult to learn. In English you only have one LEARN, in Russian that one word learn is spelled and pronounced differently depending on who learned what, was it her that learned, he learned, they learned, you learned, etc.

I don't know about government, but in plans of trade Chinese is better, because USA don't want Russia widely accepted.

It all depends on what you plan to do with your life.

Because I already know 4 other languages and Russian would open a literal ****ton of job opportunities from Finland. It's a gigantic, almost unexplored market for western ****e.

French is good if you want to live anywhere in the world that was once a colony of France, including much of the Caribbean. Martinique is still a French possession; it's a beautiful place if you ever get to go.

Depends for each personality whichever appears more drastic when you want to stand out.
I have an arabic last name from my father which would make French more "expected" and Russian more mysterious. Yet ever since watching Chackie Chan's movies and Dragonball when i was young i got more interested in Asian Culture.
I do chinese Shaolin Kung Fu and am picking up Japanese again.

It has more marketability as well.

Russian is very limited and a waste of time. So is MANDARIN, not Chinese. So many ignoramus....
