A few comments on her talk:
Cancer is not a natural thing for the body to do. But her research will go into an area that no professor has thought of, which is cool and I'll see what she comes up with.
Cancer is the accumulation of mutations over time. Yes, her injury comment makes sense because in the process of repairing injured tissue, new cells must be created and those divisions run the risk of mutations. Enough accumulated mutations and you get cancer. This is also why more old people get cancer as opposed to young people, who have had less time to accumulate.
As for me, I know cancer is a genetic disorder, and that is the way I'm gonna go. It was pretty cool watching that talk, thanks for sharing, really motivated me to work harder...there's other people out there to compete with.
