It can set you up for a letdown. For instance, I'm a fairly average looking fellow, decent looking, certainly not hideous. I'm not going to win women by virtue of my looks alone. I've always figured I'm about a 7. Now that I'm older maybe it's closer to a 6. My looks probably don't really help me or hurt me.

But I KNOW the way that girls react to guys who are around a 9 in looks. I see it all the time. If I thought that I was a 10, I would be confused as hell wondering why I don't get that immediate positive reaction that those guys get. As it is, it takes a little longer, girls usually have to get to know me a little.

As for Gene Simmons, he may not be the best looking guy in the room, but he probably has the highest SMV due to his fame and money. Although he's probably getting a little too old for the sex symbol act.
