"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

I show a general level of respect and courtesy but otherwise, why do you need to act polite?

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

I don't know about the others that were banned, but I can give you some background history about Player_Supreme, as I was a mod back then.

Little Known Fact #1: PS is partly responsible for the Mature Man Forum. He was one of the main (and most outspoken) proponents for a forum for older posters. Make no bones about it, he was an a$$ to deal with, but he made a good point that there needed to be a spot for more mature discussions. I took up his cause and politicked with Allen and the other mods.

I don't think you guys realize just how much convincing I had to do to get the Mature Man forum up. But now its here and is considered by many to be the best forum on the site..... in part because of Player_Supreme.

Little Known Fact #2: Player_Supreme never flamed the Mature Man forum. He once got into really bad flame war with another poster whose name eludes me now. I remember he even tried to humilate the other guy by posting gay porn! But anyway, it got so nasty that the other mods were b!tching at me to do something about it. (I was the only one he'd listen to.)

First, I closed the thread. Then I sent him a few PMs. What we discussed I won't repeat. In any case, he agreed to cut out the flames in the Mature Man and never did it again. It proved that PS was capable of "acceptable" behavior. It also proved to me that there was a hint of genuis to his madness.

Little Known Fact #3: Player_Supreme was banned not long after I retired from moderating. Say what you want, but I don't think this is any coincidence. IMO, PS was one of the best posters this site ever had. Yes, he was complete jerk, but he projected the type of masculinity that alot of us need. However, when I left, there was no one among the moderators left to defend him.

From my memory, there were about 4-5 times when the mods were itching to ban him. At one point even Allen had had enough. And almost everytime I had to talk them out of it. I had to remind them of the golden tips he gave, and explain how the positives outweighed the negatives with him.

My biggest fear was that by banning PS, we would LOSE the respect of other posters because it would prove that we could not handle posters with strong online personas.

Was I right? :(

Occasionally I wonder why some posters seem to have immortal lives in the forum. I didn't really question PS or a couple of others because there was some actual underlying wisdom to some of their rants. One thing I can say even with their vapid presentation, I don't recall any of them doing it for the purpose of self promotion.

After reading some of the behind the scenes happenings concerning PS it reaffirms my appreciation for what the mods do. It's nice to know that they do give thought to whether or not a person should be banned and even gives them a few chances to straighten up.

So for all you thread closing Nazi moderators I still have respect for you guys. Although I don't think that your current challenges with posters really compares to those in the days of PS and others. I believe you guys have much more work to do.

Makes me wonder whether these guys use the communication skills that they exhibit here when they speak with people directly.
I doubt it.

Survivor, no offense, but the way you wrote that post, it makes the Player_Supreme character seem like some sort of forum legend. I just found it funny the way you recounted every detail so vividly, as if his banning was akin to murdering some great leader, LOL.

topics like "does pubic hair thin out as you get older" are sterling. just sterling  http://www.sosuave.net/forum/showthread.php?t=115021

actually, the mature man site is filled with the most insecure dudes on earth. at least the high school site is filled with hope and a feeling that things will only get better in the future.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

I'm sorry you see it that way. Was PS some "great leader"? Of course not. But neither were other influential posters like Pook or AD. My point was that some of PS's post brought alot of value to the site, as did many of the other posters who got banned. He just went about it in a manner that most of the mods could not handle and thus got banned for it.

For those who never modded, please understand that some bans are "open/shut" cases and there are other bans (like in PS's case) that involved alot of heated debates and aren't as simple as they seem.

How about you guys just trust the mods that Allen selected? When they ban someone, its usually for a good reason. Most of the time, moderators do ban the right people. And even when people are banned they're still allowed to come back under other aliases. My only disagreement was about the PS ban. Other than that, I think we did a pretty good job then, and the current mods are doing a great job now.
