Where do you go on first dates and why?

I often take them to this town on the river which has a main street full of antique shops, boutiques and such. They love that. You guys should consider this if you have an area with antique shops. It's very stimulating to them and there are lots of opportunities for revealing your fun side. Then a nice meal and it's back to my place.

I don't go on first dates anymore. Seems within my age group (medical students) people start with sex first. Has its advantages and disadvantages.

First date in my circles is more like first hookup/sex at or after a party. Then if it continues a relationship arises out of it. I don't really find people who want that sit down and talk date these days, they want to skip straight to sex and sort out the rest later.
