I've been reading a variety of dating stories online recently about how people have been ghosted by someone they were into.
A lot of these stories sound really familiar. As if they were the same oneitis stories I've read from a decade ago. Not necessarily the exact same people, but the same exact experiences.

Is Ghosting the New Age term for Oneitis? Because they both seem the same to me.
Is there really a difference?

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

The Cliff's Notes:

Ghosting is when you're dating or even casually seeing someone and without any overt warning or notice, they simply disappear; stop replying to your messages and phone calls. In other words, they are undetectable, unavailable, and unseen, like a ghost.

Oneitis is when you lock in on one person and discard and/or cut contact with all other suitors in an effort to focus on said one person. This can be determinantal for many reasons as has been discussed here many times. Oneitis can be, and usually is, contracted while still seeing a person, in a committed relationship or casually.

Hope that helps.

Ghosting typically happens if someone was dating a person as a "fill in" until they found someone better and had no real interest in seeing the person long term...
