I always got on with my ex's Dad. We became good friends and fished together a lot over the years. We have become real friends.

This weekend I invited him to come out with me. We had a great day together, towards the end he told me he has late stage cancer.

He's taking it well and wants to enjoy life. Is eager to set up another fishing trip, possibly next weekend.

This got my hamster spinning regarding my ex a little. As he mentioned to me he only told her yesterday.

I clicked on her messaging profile when I got home, I have no intention of texting her.

But I see she's changed her profile picture to one of her and my dog!!! It's really odd. I haven't spoken to her in months and months

What's your thoughts why she would do this.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I would not think about it too much - if you really want to, give positive reaction to the photo only if she is still on your friends list and the photo change was marked as public.

Concentrate on being good friend to the guy, it seems he won't be around for too long.

I second what @justaroundthecorner said. Don't give too much energy into it.. but if it has your "hamster spinning", I would simply message her and share the sentiments .. and if there IS anything there, you'll know.

Yeah. I'm pretty much ignoring it. It just got in my head a lil bit.

It’s a manipulation of your emotions. Why are you looking at her profile? She has you pegged you know. If you did ever comment or somehow mentioned to someone who later told her, all it would do is contribute to her delusion of her own glorious essence. Her supreme power over men.

Her Dad told me he had cancer when we were fishing. I was contemplating messaging her to see how she was holding up, dealing with the news.

Then I seen the profile picture had changed on WhatsApp messenger and thought nope, as alarm bells started ringing when I seen it.

Women can get nostalgic. Women can also do some really odd things. I had one ex name her kid after me. I had another one name her kid after my son's name. Take it as a compliment and go fvck a different woman.

Sometimes folks get nostalgic and reminisce. My guess is she values the relationship you have with her dad, and there is a part of her that wishes she had you back. Her dad's cancer has brought this to the forefront. People reflect more in times like this and seek comfort. ITs similar to when someone exeriences a tough time like divorce and reaches out to their ex.

Was she close to your dog?
