What is Tea?
From the app store:
Also, something very bad is that they were allowed to request info like place of residency, phone numbers, social media, workplace, and marital status of any man without needing approval. Wtf.
So what is this leak about?
For those aware or unaware, this app required women to verify their identities using their driver's license. And then...this is probably more funny to those who are technologically inclined...they held said verification images...in a PUBLIC UNSECURED CLOUD STORAGE [google firebase]. There was no security, encryption, or anything. It was accessible from a public url. Allegedly, they had the database in test mode and never went back to add authentication. Some people are suspecting this app was coded entirely in AI. As a result, someone was able to gather all the pictures of all the women that were using this app. So over the last couple of days, it was found that a majority of these women on this man-hating/ yelp platform where exactly as you expected in looks.

Personally, I think this hilarious on a variety of levels. From the inept security of the app itself to people bashing the women's now revealed faces. It's sorta of a karmic justice while also exposing the ineptitude of the app design for what was suppose to be a man rating app. Did a woman program this?
From the app store:
Off the bat, this app is basically a woman group of figuring out if someone has dated the same guy. Basically a yelp's for women. It lets them also downvote and upvote guys. It's a female only app essentially. Are we dating the same guy? Ask our anonymous community of women to make sure your date is safe, not a catfish, and not in a relationship.
Already swiping for dates on Tinder, Bumble, Match, or Hinge? Tea is a must-have app, helping women avoid red flags before the first date with dating advice, and showing them who’s really behind the profile of the person they're dating.
Users can access a nationwide forum of posts and can set alerts for a man’s name so you never miss any tea about your potential date, ex, or partner, and so you can make sure they are not a cheater. Users can anonymously ask for dating and relationship advice to find support and empowerment from our community of verified women.
So whether you’re planning a coffee meet-up or something more serious, Tea gives you the confidence to move forward with your date.
No matter how you meet, via dating apps, friends, or online, Tea and its users help you date safe—increasing your chances of dating success.
Tea is the perfect companion app if you’re using dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, Match, or Hinge—giving you a layer of safety and community insight before the first date.

Someone even created a website at the url below of the images that were leaked where people can vote women by their attraction, the same thing the women were using the app for to vote about men. It has a leaderboard of the good looking women vs the bad looking ones (not license info is on this site, only pictures). The breach included about 72,000 images — about 13,000 of which were either selfies or photo identification "submitted during account verification," the company said. Another 59,000 images from within the app, as well as comments and direct messages, "were accessed without authorization."
It looks like more of the guys' photos got leaked than the girls'. The images within the app were all of guys.
