One girl will give really intense looks that are pretty much the definition of eye-f***ing, I'll see her looking at her shoes and shyly smiling to herself when I'm talking to friends, frequently looking over at me when I don't say "hi", give some sexual body "look at my butt" body language, smile and give submissive eye contact when I talk to her, breaking into a huge smile when we happen to cross paths and her guard isn't up. So far sounds shy. Though she's definitely an introvert.
BUT...she'll often act completely nonchalant and indifferent, barely responding, showing no body language change, not looking or making any effort to engage, maybe even consciously avoiding eye contact, acting curt and barely acting friendly.
That polar opposite hot/cold behavior is rubbing me the wrong way and makes her seem insincere, or just like she isn't that interested, or playing some game. Shyness might be a factor, but that doesn't mean it should be an excuse. How should I respond/react to the behavior? I don't want to be a reactive jerk obviously.
