Yes, and believe it or not I saw that one fairly recently (and by recently I mean maybe in the last ten years). I was freaking out because Elsa Lanchester was in it. She's also in Mary Poppins. Funny thing about when I saw Bride of Frankenstein as a kid, I didn't realize that the actress who played Mary Shelley also played the Bride. Because at the end credits where it says who played what roles, it says "The Bride..............?" I didn't figure it out until I saw it years later as an adult. Hey, I was a kid.

Thus is an epic hijack, much to our discredit. These guys are on topic while you and I are talking Frankenstein, I love Lucy, and Mary Poppins.

Since we are already entrenched, I found myself scrubbing through Mary Poppins just the other day as I love the orchestration of one of the songs, (Feed the Birds - it’s a stunning orchestration), and I saw a scene with Elsa Lanchester. I knew I knew her from somewhere and only today did I realize who it was.

At any rate, I will be watching Bride of Frankenstein this weekend. Your analysis of it is spot-on. Yeah she got short-changed in the credits.

Interestingly, she was apparently asexual and lived with Charles Laughton for 30 years.

But to add value to the thread, I think that most Clint Eastwood westerns from the 60s and 70s provide a good template for how to deal with women. He always seemed to capitalize on women who broadcasted interest.

Really nothing coming out of movies today. All male characters in modern films are one dimensional. They are either emotionless sociopaths, over the top masculine bad@sses, or comic manipulators. In movies, you really have to do this because you have at most 2-3 hours to do character development.

There are a couple of suggestions with Thanos, and while I agree he is a good example of a man that is myopically focused on a goal, which women like, that character is just God awful, that character is humorless, brutal, and impatient. But you can use Marvel movies to find examples because these have multiple films and character development.

A better example is the character Tony Stark, he has the focus, is smart, is successful, is charming and funny. This is what women want. His interactions with women in these films is spot on exactly what attract women. His interactions with his girlfriend/wife is perfect... when she starts to demand things from him, he twists that into humor, pushes back gently, then does what the fvck he wants anyway. He diffuses tense situations with humor, and when that doesn't work, will put his foot down but he does not let anyone move him off center. In his interactions with other male characters he takes the lead, but recognizes when faced with a problem out of his element, will step back and let people who have a better handle on things take the lead. The character's interaction with his daughter in the last film is exactly how a father should raise a daughter. He has a great deal of emotional intelligence.

If you can somehow be focused on your goals, but leave room for others to come into your life, and remain focused and do this with humor and charm, but when push comes to shove will flip that switch and get serious, but recognize when you are wrong, and can change course without turning into an apologetic simp... this is perfect.

Other characters in the Marvel universe have these traits but they all have a flaw that makes them ultimately unattractive.

Steve Rogers... his flaw is that he allows his values turn him into a dogmatic jack@ss. Too willing to sacrifice without exploring other options.

Star Lord and Scott Lang, has a lot of these traits, but they lose emotional self control and they are not very smart causing them to make mistakes where only luck saves them.

Thor let's his ego get in the way of doing the right things and turns into a basket case when things don't go his way.

Dr. Stranger has no emotional intelligence, he knows he's right and never tries to read a room, no charisma... not really a leader.

Bruce Banner, Clint Barton, and Bucky Barnes... very emotionally damaged.

Now if you are looking for a real life celebrity example of what women really want, well that's easy... Ryan Remolds. End of discussion.

The Frankenstein Monster was more of an Incel than a DJ apparently, I guess that's part of what makes him a tragic figure.
Ricky Ricardo seemed like a pretty manly fellow, he ruled his house and treated Lucy like she was a brattish kid.

I'm not saying she got short-changed in the credits. She was properly credited as playing Mary Shelley. Any idiot watching the movie must have realized she was playing the Bride, it's just that I was a kid and it didn't occur to me. I didn't know she was asexual, or that she lived with Charles Laughton. You don't run into a lot of asexuals, that's interesting. I'm also a Mary Poppins fan (bet you don't hear that on the forum everyday), partly because I like D!ck Van Dyke. The songs in that musical are so strong, that's where the sequel couldn't match up with it.

Agree about the old Clint Eastwood westerns (another favorite of mine). I don't know if you can pick up much practical DJ advice from them though. Basically he just shows up and the women throw themselves at him. And you can't just sexually assault females on the street like he did in High Plains Drifter (but even there she intentionally bumped into him first).
