"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

What is the best fighting style? Lets settle this once and for all

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

I still stand by this. If there can be weapons form in martial arts, then truely the ultimate weapon to put some one down with (without blowing the crap out of the surrounding area...sometimes) is the gun.

The militarys of the world train their soldiers in hand to hand combat but when it's an option, they always go for a gun. Hence if are looking for the ultimate fighting technique you need look no further then the end of my barretta.

Shooting/Grappling and Boxing is the consensus at my gym.

I think Grappling>>Boxing cuz wtf are you gonna do when some guy has your whole strong arm in stretched out inbetween his legs & who's ready to snap your wrist back into the opposite way?

Or someone grabs you and the slams the **** outta you on the hard concrete?

...nothing you can do it would be a wrap in a matter of seconds.

I seen legit tough guys around here get there arms broken by these dominican grapplers in Weehaken.

^But at the same time what are the chances of you bumping into a guy that knows all that?Like 1 in 100.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After watching those ultimate fighting videos and visiting Brazil a few times, there is nothing like it. Very few people can take down guys 3-4 times their size and strength and win, without a baseball bat or a gun.
Ever seen the Ultimate fight videos. If you haven't, you've missed out.
For me, Jiu-Jitsu all the way.

In my opinion, here's a sequential flow.

Start off with BJJ and Muay Thai (2-4 years)->Wrestling/Judo (1-2 years)->Jeet Kune Do/Kali(2-4 years)->Tai Chi/Kung Fu

Within a decade of this sort of crosstraining, it seems like one would be a total fighter, both physically and mentally.

I read somewhere that more people have died in wars since the invention of the gun by hand to hand (non shooting weapons included) than anything else. I'll try and remember where i read it and grab a source.

Oh and the best fighting style is Kyokushinkai Karate by a long shot ;), my loyalty will never falter!

That's the stupidist thing I've ever heard

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

Think about some of the wars, bayonette charges, trench fighting and the likes. I read it in a peer reviewed journal during my history class at uni, in a few weeks when i have access to the database i'll link it.

My point anyway is that war is alot more brutal than many people suspect, its not some point and shoot video-game.

First off your original post said NON SHOOTING weapons included and in this one you mention bayonette charges which is combat with a weapon. Also the bulk of trench fights also were won at the end of a barrel.

I took a military history class so I'll just lay it down to you straight up. Since the gun was invented there has only been one larger killer of man in war during combat time and that's disease/infection. You think hand to hand combat has killed more people since the innovation of heavy artillary and bombs? Not likely. Lets also concider that the most violent conflict resulting in the most deaths in human history was WW2 with roughly 62 million deaths. There's no way bare knuckle boxing acounted for even a quarter of those deaths. I don't know what source you're talking about but it's bunk. There's no way that in the age of modern warfare that hand to hand combat out weighs death by projectiles.

by hand to hand i dont only mean boxing, sorry for the misunderstanding.

I mean such things as strangalation, bludeoning (with the ends of their rifles/anything thats around), stabbings (bayonettes + knives) , close proximity stuff. In such cases it would very much benefit you to have martial art training.

Your right though, i probably mis-read or took it out of context. Got a conceded pass in that history subject ;).

for instance, in the US Civil War, more soliders died from disease/infection than all of the combat deaths put together.

IMO I think if you've got to pick ONE style to rule them all in a street fight, Krav Maga would be the best.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

what about swords form? Doesn't that count, after all it is a martial arts form.

My fighting style is all military based taught to my by my father who served two tours in vietnam. He showed me how to take people down, for good if necessary.

I didn't see much need in practicing any other form of hand to hand combat after that so I learned weapons form. I study Iaido and Battojutsu. I have several katanas, one of which is a reverse blade with a double spine blood groove.

I think the concentration and discipline involved with swordsman ship is equal if not greater then that necessary for hand to hand combat.

I would think that with Boxing and Judo you would win most of your fights. Quick jab, Hard jab their on the ground then put them in some badass hold.

BTW There is no Best and Final martial art.

True, I'm sure any Krav Maga classes you would take over here in the US are going to be half-assed verions of the real thing. What the IDF learns, I'm sure is a different version all together.

So, maybe we should reformulate the question:
What's the best fighting style, for a street fight, that you can learn conventionally?
