What exactly is an orthodontist?

Hey guys, just wondering what exactly is an orthodontist? I know it like a dentist but whats the diff? thanks

i guess you can say its a dentist who specialises in the appearance of your teeth, rather than the cleaning of the teeth. orthodontists give patients braces to straighten their teeth.

You must not have followed Cheir's advice, otherwise you'd know the answer to this already. I mean, all you had to do was type in "orthodontist".

An Orthodontist is a person who puts $5 worth of metal on your teeth, making them hurt reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaallllllllllll bad, and then charges you $4,000 for it.

Seriously though an orthodontist is someone who basically moves your teeth to their correct position using braces, invisalign etc. They also use retainers (which you can generally take out of your mouth at any time) to keep your teeth straight once they have straightned them.

We are so backward here in the UK. When I was a lad all they said was 'Oh, we'll have that one out, give the others a bit of room'

Luckily I think Dentists are catching on and jumping on the aesthetic band wagon.

Unfortunately general free care that we invented with the NHS is now only a pipe dream for many people in this country.
