"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

"Are you doing anything later?" or "What are you about to do now?"

What do these questions usually mean to you?

Now I might sound foolish for asking a question like this because the way it is said to someone makes a difference (and I'm sure something along these lines gets asked all the time), but I thought I should at least ask and clear some stuff up instead of miss out on some possible opportunities. I figure I should put the question into situational context (in my cases).

Often when I am out on a weekend I will talk to the occasional girl here and there. It may be at/outside the bars or at a party. So let's say I encounter a girl I'm mildly acquainted with, and we get into small talk and all that jazz.

So at some point she may ask who I'm with. I will say I'm not with anybody in particular, just with a friend here and there. Eventually I may get asked "so what are you about to do" or "what are you doing later?" My usual response to this is along the lines of "I'm not sure yet, I'm trying to find out if anything's going on." I try to at least give the impression that I'm not going to be doing nothing. Depending on who it is, they may just tell me to give them a call if I do find something. If I do call, it usually results in no answer or they are going to bed, etc. Which, at 2-3am I expect of most people.

Now I could take that question as suggestive and respond with something such as "well hopefully getting to know you better," but the question never seems as obvious as I want to think it is. Anyways, any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

I've found that saying nothing is worst than having something. Its based to come up with something you might do or something you feel like doing that way even if you don't do it you could always say you were too tired or changed it to do something better, etc. I always try to keep the impression that i'm a cool guy and that I'm always doing something cool, so even if a girl comes over or calls and I'm just chillin on the computer I'll say some of my cuzzins are coming over with her friends dat way she can just imagine what could happen.

Alright so I understand that part now. Always look busy. I've heard that before; I guess I should have been applying it more to those answers too. Even if I don't know what I'm doing I shouldn't let them know that.

As for their intentions when they ask those two questions, I'm still up in the ropes. I suppose I should experiment with it, but what's the fun in that? Haha.

Dood this is overanalyzing if I've ever seen it!!

These are general questions commonly referred to as "fluff talk" on these seduction boards. The girl who is asking you these questions is trying to spark a conversation with you, it could potentially mean she's interested, but more than likely its just more along the lines of general fluff.

I tend to overanalyze things every once in a while. This is probably one of those things. But once I figure it out I usually never have to bring it up again. I think it is due to my mentality as an engineer. If something isn't logical to me then I will put thought into it until it does make sense. Definitely not good for a DJ but it's hard to immediately change from years of learning to think that way. I know I will eventually make that move though.
