I'm a beginner to working out and can't understand some terms here. Can anyone explain what they mean? And also recommend some excercises?

A repetition(or rep) is one "movement" basically. An example would be doing 1 push-up or pull-up. Most of the time it is used when talking about lifting with weights though.

A set is a number of repetitions. If you did 10 push-ups, it would be considered one set of 10 reps. If you did 10 push-ups three different times, it would be 3 sets of 10 reps.

Any other questions?

Thanks.
How fast would you do each rep in exercises like bicep curls and chest flyes? And how many reps and sets would you recommend?

If you're trying to build muscle, i'd say 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps with about 80% of the total weight you can stand.
