"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

I brought this question up in the thread about lying about your age, but I think it deserves it's own thread. What do you think in general about fudging some facts in an online profile?

I'm talking about age, income, profession, interests, etc. Of course this is going to depend on what you're using the online stuff for: getting laid or finding your own special little buttercup. Me, I just need to bang it out after my second divorce, but I truly do detest lying.

So, what do you guys think?

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I think if your display age is past the 30's about all you'll have is slim pickings of 30-40+ year olds that you wouldn't want. If you just want to bang it and with younger girls, once your display age is much above early 30's it's going to be tough finding many girls under 28. Even at 32 most of the girls that respond to me are close to 30 and I get more responses from girls older than 32 than I do from girls under 25.

I lie all the time on my online dating profiles.

who cares?

when we meet, they sometimes say "I thought you were taller" or "I thought you were older/younger"

who cares? just keep going and they'll eventually pound it out with you.

Im 25, pounded it with 18-39 that Ive met online. they all say "I thought you were..." and then I was like whatever, doesn't matter. theyve all got something to hide too.
