Sorry to revive an old thread. But I'm a bit confused by the reviews of meetup. I go to quite a few and I've talked to plenty of professional level people. And you can see who's going - so if its a **** forest go to another event. I would agree that you meet more ppl there with lower level social skills. I'd suggest the sports ones - weird ppl don't generally seem to play sports. And some I can't bring myself to go to must have insanely good ratios - e.g. the romantic film fans group.
