What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

You're 17; you have one foot out the door already. Patience grasshopper. In less than one year, you can't blame him anymore for any of that. If you stay, its because you choose to.

here is a truth that most adults aren't going to tell you.

most people grow up and really aren't that successful in life. they've acheived mediocrity at best.

then they have a couple of kids. and they think 'ok, im going to make sure my kids dont screw up the way i did. their lives are going to amount to more than mine has. they are going to become someone." and it doesn't matter what your parents job is. they can be a doctor and they can consider themselves a failure because they werent a neuro surgeon.

now they aren't going to tell you this. they aren't going to say 'son, i really am not very happy with my life. i have a lot of disappointments and i wish i could go back in time and do it all over again and make more out of myself. so while i can't do that, you can though and im going to make sure you do."

its quite sad really, when parents take out their failures on their children. and the kids can't understand why this insanity is being heeped upon them.

it sounds like your dad really lacks balance.

a happy life is about balance. which means when you work you should uwork hard. but when the work is done, you need to relax and have some fun.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Hmm, unfortunately you can't just leave them like I did (divorced parents, stopped seeing one similar situation). Wait for college, I've had restrictive parents all my life suffocating my social progress and outings, but in college they are no longer in charge. Get a dorm, stay "out of reach" so to speak, and be patient.
Other strategies include not trying to go out at all, do what you have with school, but become a vegetable otherwise. One thing I always did in those IM RIGHT GODDAMN IT situations is act like I really don't care about the matter,it's not important whether he's right or not. Good luck man.
