There are definitely faster and slower rates of mass gain.

However it is important for people to keep things in perspective. Under highly controlled medical studies the fastest rate of muscle gain was 6.6 lbs in 6 weeks. This was observed in a new trainee under supervised steroid use. If anybody is telling you that you can gain 30 lbs of muscle in 30 days, its pure utter bs. Blue pill fitness mentality.

More realistic is about .5 lbs of muscle/week with a total weight change of 1 lb. This equates to about 25 lbs muscle/year. As you become more advanced this slows down even more to about half the rate of the prior year. Until you hit about 4-5 years of good training then gains simply don't materialize anymore.

Let's keep it real. Without steroids, your max gain is about 2 lbs of muscle per month. That's if EVERYTHING is on point. Diet, training, and sleep(85% of guy's FAIL big time with that part---but it might be the most important part).

However, most guys are probably lucky to even hit 75% of that, and that will happen rarely...I'd say usually most months will be 25-50%...so most guys are looking at between half a pound and a pound of muscle per month...

Heavy duty supplements like steroids, or other potentially harmful, performance enhancing substances that can help you build muscle much faster, but I’m assuming you are far too smart to do that! Other less dangerous, but still potentially harmful substances like Creatine can aid in muscle growth as well.
