There may be no show on television as twisted about sex as The Bachelor. ABC’s long-running dating show, now in its 18th season, purports to find a man a wife, a mission in which it is only very sporadically successful. Despite its failure rate, The Bachelor continues to present itself as romantic, out to find a good man a life partner, a soul mate, a true love—all while behaving like a pimp.

18 years? Oh my, has it been that long?

Let me get this straight; this is the ultimate Cinderella show - a bunch of women preen for the attention of the handsome unattached alpha "prince" - but they call it a sexist show that allows the bachelor to act like a "pimp"? :crackup: :crackup:

Are there any men who actually watch this show of their own volition (yes, I could see a man watching this because his woman is watching it, and he's basically stuck watching it) more than just to see what the hoopla is all about?

Perhaps it is that these women don't like the idea of the hypergamic female putting out, thereby debasing their sexual value?

I don't watch this drivel, but I always thought the setup was kind of strange, with all these women fighting over one guy. Not that the guy acting like a pimp is odd, but the guy has no competition on the show. I don't know of any dude who operates in a vacuum like that.

To flip it, it's like he's Smurfette and all the girls are the Smurfs. There's only one of him.

I've seen some show like this, I think it was Flavor of Love with Flavor Flav or something like that, and all these women were pitted against each other. And I remember there were some that didn't care for it, they were like "I'm used to have men fighting over ME, I don't need this sh!t" lol.

Haha that's some mighty fine hamstering and shyt testing. Let's see if the network and producers have a pair, if they do, they ignore this and get money. If they cave before there is any viewership dropoff or financial repercussions, they are beta as hell and deserve to fail. If they pay lip service and continue on doing what they want anyway while going on to bigger ratings then Alpha status is achieved.

I hope y'all know the show is fake and it's scripted, they only keep the wild, crazy, interesting girls on the show to spice it up and for views.... Just like every other reality television show. The bachelor in some cases gets to sleep with them or actually sparks a marriage but it's all fake... Just for views.

Majority of the population are idiots and actually watch it and take it seriously, rather than for pure entertainment and laughs. People seem to forget nowadays it's just TV.

This. Guys for all we know the show's people HIRE writers to gripe about it in blogs and the femmedia. For these shows any press is good press. A viewer watching to hate is just as much a viewer as anyone else. Don't be fooled, and this principle applies to so much in media today, not just reality shows but all media.
