Did a search and gained some good knowledge, but has anybody tried vitamin C in high dose? Such as 3,000mg daily?

Yes especially when sick and I tell you what it helps tons. There's some concrete studies that you can look up on mega dosing vit c and the benefits. Get some from fresh oranges and supplement the rest with tablets (high grade are the best, forgot which form is best when it comes to vit c I'll look it up when I have more time)

I read some of info out there on Vitamin C. Carlito, I see lots of info on the high dosing too. Some folks recommended 6,000mg or more a day! They claim it leads to a happier life in some. Like anything else it has doubters, but overall seems worth it IMO.

The tolerable upper limit according to the USA is 2,000mg for an adult male. With the amount of protein I’ll be taking I think 3,000mg daily will be OK.

Anybody ever try a high dose of it? What’s some of the amounts people here take daily?

Megadosing vitamin C is fine, it might cost a little bit more but for 99% of people it is fine to take over 3g of vitamin C.

The RDA is outdated. Some numbers they give are too high, others too low.

Megadosing vitamin C is not harmful. It's water soluble. If you have too much in your body at one time, you piss it out. Be careful to choose a good brand for supplements. If it's made in China it might have lead and that **** accumulates in the body.

I wish I was joking.

ALA (ala lipolic acid) is useful for chelation therapy. It slowly removes heavy metals from the body (like lead, cadmium)... if you're worried about that sort of thing.

All sounds great guys. My Vitamin C is a US product made by Nature Made, seems to be a legit company.

Free radicals offer no benefit. Free radicals damage DNA and cell walls.

That isn't a benefit at all.

Vitamin C is water soluble. Meaning if you're worrying about getting to much to hurt yourself, the worst that will happen is that you'll not use the excess and pee it out.

Umm you can't say free radicals are good or bad. Yes too many can damage DNA and cause cancer.... but some are necessary for cell signaling in your body.

You're thinking about the free radicals that occur naturally as a result of your natural metabolism. Those don't last long in the body as they get converted into something else.
Extra free radicals from radiation, weird chemicals and preservatives... etc. Are not natural and your body will not and cannot use them. They are waste and cause damage.

I have take as much as 5 grams a day.

It is generally considered safe to take several grams a day, although it can cause GI upset. It's not really necessary unless you are sick or in a catabolic state--Vit C can mitigate cortisol levels and is also ESSENTIAL for collagen production.

I was told to take Glutamine powder with it.. counter that upset stomach.

And I'm shocked I don't know more ladies taking Vitamin C for the collagen production.

I feel the same way Quicksilver.

After taking in a lot of reading on Vitamin C, plus the input from the post, I feel comfortable taking 3,000mg a day.

Well some stuff you take and you don't know what effects might be

zinc for example will prevent you from falling asleep so don't take it before bed
