as always, i thought of growing up with this mentality until i woke up to women these days. what is your view of it? are kids the reason...family?...no offense but if you are married why did you do it? or what holds you back from doing it?

Children. As a father, I can say children are the only reason to get married. Children do better in everyway when they have two parents. When you are ready to settle down and have kids, try to find the best woman you can. Until then have fun.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Marriage is a good thing. Providing a stable home for your children is a must.This relies heavily on the woman.If she does listen..if she puts her effort in to support her husband in common goals then this is the key.
The problem is that most women dont respect the man of the house anymore.They expect a man to support them but when it comes to her support many seem to flake. It seems that being a supportive wife gets too hard for them. It also doesnt help when the woman seems to lose the passion either as many men arent taken care of in the bedroom either. Then he may cheat ..get caught and hes the bastard.
The downsides are many but a good woman can make or break a marriage.

I don't see marriage as a necessity, it shouldn't be a necessity
first of all it costs alot of money to raise a whole family, not that I amgreedy or money loving, I'm just saying you might lose sleep over worries about your job, savings and expenses when you have a family more than if you were single(assuming I own a home, I could live well with 400-600 $ a month being sngle )
second, you're stuck with this woman forever, most women love money and love shopping, they will spend your money the complain to you that you are not making enough they will go crazy and there is nowhere for you to run
third your children will most probably disappoint you, they might either die young in a car accident, or become drug addicts, emos, turn out hmosexuals etc... looking at society these days(and I'm not an american) chances are good that your children will embarrass you
then again there are successful marriages here and there, if I were to get married, I would like to know the woman for at least 2 years before marriage

I believe the avg guy here goes though a cycle. pook hit ont his in one of his earlier posts and i believe his is correct.
the avg guy here has been used, abused and mentally skullfvcked by the opposite sex for years.alot and i mean alot of damage has been done to the AFC's male pysche
what i am getting at is, the first reaction the avg AFC has once he finds out some basic things about the opposite sex and how the act, react and view men is go from super nice guy to the polar opposite, screw women, women are worthless, etc which is kinda what you see here
I did that. when I did some things to some women.. some families even.. that I am not very proud of for the simple fact that in the first time in my life I could. women wanted me and I fvcked anything that walked with no disregard.
The truth is, the reality is somewhere in the middle.
I pay no attention at all to marriage stisitics beucase they are too broad. how many of those guys are hopeless AFCs that are married? you need alot more imperical data than just divorice rate to get anything meaningful out of marriage stastitics
even with that said, I believe the avg guy is better off single. marriage is not for everyone. with that said I proposed to my fiancee about 3 months ago and we will be married later this year.

The truth is, there is not very much logic that goes into marriage. i haven't wanted to screw anyone else for a while now, I can see myself spending the rest of my life with my fiancee and not only that, I would like that very much. she makes me very happy and is the yin to my yang. we know each others quirks and we are okay with each others shortcomings.
with that said, it took me 2 and a half years to even let the possibility of me marrying her enter my mind. she knew my original stance on marriage and had accepted the fact that I was very well intent on not being married. ever. she passed alot of my "**** tests" so to speak.
there are some good ones out there. While I don't think I'm "lucky" to be with the woman I'm with.. I do feel I have a very speical gal who has more than proved her worth.
the problem with most relationships is that a woman is given too much status without earning it. My current Fiancee met me and dealt with her being one of about 4 plates and damn well knew about it. she has been patient enough with me and wanted to be with me to the point where she has went from being the woman I spend the weekends with, while she is quite knowing i'm out banging other woman, calling me and knowing good and damn well why I'm not picking up the phone,knowing I know she wants me to be with just her, to me feeling enough for her that i want to marry her.

Yes, and it's possible for a 40 year old man to run a 4 minute mile. It's just not likely. Factually speaking kids raised in a traditional family with parents who stay married do better in life. My dad cheated on my mom when I was 7 and had my little brother (now 19) and were divorced. my mom instead of being bitter, went out of her way to make sure i had as much of a regular relationship with my dad as possible. he picked me up from school everyday, I spent about 2-3 hours with him a day while my mom was finishing up college and he coached my basketball team. I saw as much of if not more of my dad than my mom. for a while I actually saw more of him.
I am an extremely lucky bastard as most parents would have raised world war three, mom would have been telling dad isn't ****, dad would have been telling mom isn't ****.
with that said, I am the exception to the norm.
My dad had his issues... or issue (women).. but being a father was not one of them. Even when he wasn't physically there.. let me call my dad and tell him i wanted to see him, he'd drop whatever the hell he was doing or who he was doing.. which was usually the case. I was a spoiled brat.
I guess that has played apart of why I really dont' get bitter at breakups and I generally am on talking terms with all my ex's, even the ones I don't want. If my mom can look at my dad for the rest of her life after what he did I can say hi and bye to some skank I slept with a few times when I see her or when it's her birthday.
anyone who says something to the effect of you don't have to get married to raise kids, doesn't have kids. While you technically don't have to, that's just not something that someone with kids would come out and say. My son is the most important thing on earth to me and I will do anything I possibly can to make sure he has every freaking advantage in life. While, I do understand that staying in a bad marriage is more detrimental than helpful, the idea of raising my child in a married house hold is somewhat appealing.
not a day has gone in his life where he has not seen his momma and his daddy. he cries and we are no more than a room away, one of us at least. Even if something happens to his mom and I, which I hope is not the case but reality is reality, I am hell bent on making sure he has both his parents in his life.
While I would never get married solely become of a kid, I now understand people who would.
In fact the only thing we are really waiting on to get married is for him to be coordinated and discipline enough to be a ringbarrer lol. right now he'd probbaly try to eat the ring if not throw it at someone.
