"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Dante fell in love with Beatrice, barely had a relationship with her, and turned her into an almost divine figure in his poetry. After she died, he made her his spiritual guide in The Divine Comedy.

This dude supposedly fell in love with Beatrice when he was about nine and she was around eight. They met again years later, but they never had a proper romantic relationship. She married another man, and Dante married someone else.

Yet Dante spent years writing poetry about Beatrice as though she were some divine being sent from heaven to save his soul. He turned her into the embodiment of spiritual perfection, and after she died, he made her his heavenly guide in The Divine Comedy, leading him towards God.

Imagine barely knowing a woman, never having a relationship with her, and elevating her to the status of a ****ing angel in your imagination. Rather than getting on with your life, you turn unrequited love into a religious experience.

Then there's his dream in La Vita Nuova, where Love appears holding Dante's burning heart and feeds it to Beatrice. That inspired the opera scene in Hannibal, where romantic devotion and literal consumption get mixed together.

The bloke basically turned a crush into a lifelong spiritual obsession. Medieval simping on an industrial scale.

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.
