so i devoured book of pook in a matter of days(really eye opening great stuff). my church has singles wards which i have avoided for the past year because quite frankly over the past several years i have turned into a shriveled up bitter fearful old person. this provided a safe ground to socialize as well. so i finally decided after a year to go to one of these kinds of wards. having said that i geared myself up mentally to approach this differently. i approached it completely with this this is who i am and i am a great person mentality. i added a bit of outgoingness and confidence which was still me just trying to avoid some of the shy introvertedness because i can be extremely introverted.
we do fast sundays now and then where anyone can get up and speak. so i used this as an opportunity to rather than be the stupid shy quite guy to make myself known. for some reason i have an uncanny ability to give on the fly talks that people remember. and so i did. by the end of it everyone knew who i was. if i saw girls sitting there looking around and looking my way i stared them dead in the eye and made them turn their heads back like they got caught. i know one girl was checking me out and i caught her and she turned her head. she was pretty damn hot too(honestly once i got rid of as much fear and shame as i usually project eye contact wasnt near as nauseating as it usually is for me as i normally detest even a half second of eye contact). i socially inserted myself into a land of new people and got people to know my existence. i am sure i broke into the world of the girl network.
did i approach any girls cold? no. but that wasnt the point. the point was my mental attitude. i went there with the i am a great catch and this is me. i went in with confidence. i let people come to me. some of it was women telling me great talk. some of it was men just chatting with me as well.
this extended to other areas. i wasnt shy about where i was going to school or ashamed(dont ask me how i got to such a level of self defeating mental talk that i was ashamed of my major....psychology FYI). if conversations kind of hit that dull moment i used those standard conversation questions i hate such as "where are you from, what do you do etc." which are shockingly effective.
barring a mental breakdown this week i intend to start working out again and find some time to date myself(again amazing pook idea there hell i used to do it) and have fun embracing who i am. honestly it was a nice break from the usual mental destruction i tell myself which ranges from "i am a terrible person" to "I suck and am a loser worth nothing".
sure i was edgy and it wasnt completely smooth but i dont care. it was a wonderful first start. was it perfect? no. i certainly failed the eye contact a bit. i had moments of my shy self break through(hey i am introverted by nature and thats likely never changing). despite the presence of some rather hot girls i didnt buckle under the knee and somehow kept that "shes hot i am frozen and silent at bay". hell i actually argued for a good 10-15 seconds with a somewhat attractive girl. why'd i argue you say? she was being dumb. she thought if you had no fingerprints cops couldnt catch you so i explained no there was a guy like that who got caught simply because having no fingerprints is so rare. i think i made her half way mad. lol felt great.
i will say using the new found book of pook knowledge. i paid some careful attention as well(i am a people watcher by nature). i saw a guy who was clearly the forever doomed friendzone person in all his glory. the hot girl rambled on about ex-BF's and wanting to take him shopping again. its clear he is a friend forever. it was quite fascinating to see that dynamic with my new pook knowledge. whats worse is i am fairly certain he doesnt see it. hell i didnt see it in myself until recently.
so just want to say thanks for the book of pook. and also just applying a bit of confidence and outgoingness and embracing of oneself really can make a giant impact. also i hope i can keep it up. again i think it worked because my goal was not to get a woman. it was to be a confident independent male that knew who and what he is.
i cant believe i let this side of me die. wth was i smoking? my poor poor shriveled up manhood. what did i do to you? stay and never leave again. ill embrace it this time i swear. just give me time to kick it back into gear. it wont be easy i know. but work with me just this one final time. for all my glorious intellectual wisdom i was a fool in this one area. although i made use of my great intellect to get people to notice me....i mean no sense letting it go to waste right? play to my strengths and who i am and embrace it.
