Too much peanut butter?

I'm thinking of getting through about half a (big) tub a day to try and put some weight on my 5ft 8 130 lbs frame.

This is pretty much the only bulking food i have in the house right now. It's no added salt and all natural.

So is this a good idea?

If you're going to go through half of a big tub of natty PB a day, then unless your parents work at Skippy or Smuckers odds are good you'll have to go to the grocery store to buy more. Why not buy other items to bulk on then? Most grocery stores put out a weekly advertisement with their specials... if you look around you can usually find boneless skinless chicken breasts for about $1.50/lb.

That aside, there's nothing wrong with PB in moderation. Eating half of a tub is going to load you up on fats.. again, there's nothing wrong with fats either, in moderation. However, since the average CUP of natty peanut butter has 124g of fat, odds are if you eat half of a tub you're going to be taking in anywhere from 250 to 375 grams of fat every day. That's too much, period.

I would think a 6lb tub of whey protein would be vastly more effective in terms of nutrition and cost.

I eat a lot of peanut butter too. But half a tub? Dude your ass cheeks are gonna stick together.

I wouldn't because peanuts are in fact a legume (like soy) which contains an estrogen chain (can't remember which one).

I'd go for walnuts instead. If you do decide to go with PB, make shure it's the all natural kind.

no added sugar is more important than no added salt.

watch out, all natural is not a regulated label, so it could still contain transfats, and if not, it probably requires refrigeration and/or stirring.
