That story quoted the CDC, a huge behemoth of an international agency if there ever was one.
Now there's two possibilities for this:
1) Some guy at the CDC found a few germs and is crying bloody murder so they'll have an excuse to expand their budget and influence
2) It's a secret plot that they're using to kill us all
