"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

When it comes to women, it's all about power, baby.

Which is another way to say it's all about perceived value. Jack is a fat, aging, and out of shape lump of flesh, but women willingly blind themselves to that fact because perceived value eclipses the mere visual. There's a lot for us to learn in that. Of course he did establish himself when he was younger and thinner, though I don't recall him ever being in great shape.

We should always be asking ourselves, how can we increase personal power and how can we project it?

If I were to describe jack in one word I would say "ruthless". Ruthlessness is a huge turn-on to women but like anything else it must be calibrated. Hence our constant dilemma. Wouldn't it be nice if we were able to paint on a face every day and attract the opposite sex just by virtue of a little putty and paint?

This is why it is man's righteous place to rule the world. Men FORGE themselves. Women paint themselves.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Yeah, he's never seemed like the gym rat type. My ex-wife used to like to watch Terms of Endearment. There's a scene in there where he takes his shirt off to have sex with Shirley Maclaine. My ex-wife would always laugh at his huge gut hanging out, but she was still clearly charmed by him. I think he was around 46 when he was in that.

It just goes go to show you don't have to be a slave to the gym to be popular with the ladies. Jack has never been the Greek god type, but he does have a distinctive face (presumably handsome) - very big smile, lots of capped teeth no doubt. But I think the secret to Nicholson's popularity is force of personality.
