Thinking of getting a new car... Any ideas?

Yep... I'm thinking something sporty like a coupe... Not in the range of a Bimmer or Mercedes but maybe like a Infiniti or Acura? What cars do you all like out there?

I drive an 04 Infiniti G35 Coupe Manual and it's fantastic. I would consider it the second most reliable, and cheaper to maintain compared to competitors, "sporty"(I don't like this term) car there is. The first is the Toyota Supra of course. But I'm not sure if you're okay with spending more than $25k-$40k on a 90's model that's probably has 100k+ miles on it, yeah it's that good/reliable.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe is also up there.

If that's not your style, the 350z/370z is basically the same thing. Nissan doesn't make money sinks unlike Mercedes, Audi, BMW...

As far as Acura goes, it's still a Honda.

Oh yeah, you can also go Muscle too. They're basically all the same in terms of reliability, maybe Chevy is worse not sure, but it's personal preference at that point. I personally wouldn't mind a 2011-2013 SS Camaro.

Look into the Hyundai Genesis coupe

I rode in my uncle's Hyundai Genesis Coupe today. It's a slick ride, the engine makes almost no noise at 70 mph.
He was thinking about buying a Lexus Coupe or something of that nature. When you buy one of those cars, you pay for the name... It's cool, but nothing special.
His Genesis Coupe is almost fully loaded for $50,000 and it comes with a 7-year 100,000 mile warranty. This is one of the best warranties you can get.

Bottom line, you don't have to get a flashy car to ride in style. :rockon:

I rode in my uncle's Hyundai Genesis Coupe today. It's a slick ride, the engine makes almost no noise at 70 mph.

The car has Paddle shifters, meaning it can operate in automatic or "manual" mode so I'm guessing your uncle was driving it in Automatic. I have only rode in the backseat of one(V6 model), which is terrible mind you, and my buddy was using the Paddle shifters and you could hear the engine roar at a decent noise, it's at a volume that you can hear but it could be louder in my opinion. I could only feel the transmission, not hear it(RWD, meaning I was basically sitting on it). Which is a little disappointing seeing how it's a performance car.

The exhaust kind of blows in my opinion though, at least for the V6 model. I'm not sure if anyone would want the V8 model.

The Lexus 300 models, IS300 and G300, share the 2JZ engine in the Toyota Supra. This means that their engines are bullet proof... When you buy one of those cars, you're paying for the Engine- which is worth it.

$50k!? I would recommend the Chevrolet SS, Jaguar XFR, or even a used BMW M3/M5 for that price!

The V8 model, with all possible accessories, goes for about $35k. A used one is around $32k(2014). I don't think your uncle payed that much!

I drove a three pedal Genesis coupe. AVOID.

You didn't listen your criteria, just that it has to be a coupe. That isn't much to go off.

My top three choices far as bang for the bang, performance, resale, and longevity:

1. Porsche 996 (1999-2001)
2. BMW M3 (E46)
3. Audi S5

If it has to be practical:

4. Subaru BR-Z / Scion FR-S !!!

It may be a lesbian car but it is the most practical one out there.

Big but not too big, lots of cargo room, great in snow, affordable, and seriously homely looking. In other words, cool but uncool

I'm surprised hipsters haven't picked it up from the hippies. I guess I'm in before it's cool.

4. Subaru BR-Z / Scion FR-S !!!

I second this, I didn't bring it up because it's a 4 cyl. The Scion FR-S is basically Toyota, meaning it holds its value extremely well. Not only that, the FR-S get's 25MPG+ with AUTOMATIC and over 30 with Manual. That's crazy. It also handles extremely well... The only complaint is the lack of power, there's nothing you can really do to increase it without making the car unbalanced by the way...

Don't do it. Save the money, get a 10 year old, sub $2000 set of wheels. Pay a REAL mechanic $100 to go with you to look at it (private seller) and ideally, get it up on a rack and really look it over. Use the money that you would have just wasted on devaluation, interest, full coverage insurance to pay for something that MAKES you money, like a Microsoft certification or house that can become weekly-room rentals.
