Yes both in a military sense and like China is doing in Africa. But the former is costly and doesn't usually last whereas the latter is basically 21st century imperialism.

Right, thats totally true. But I wonder if an outsider could become president by democratic means. Probably not, if never seen anyone do it.

Yes. Just buy up their mines and oil reserves, then persuade them to build the infrastructure to support your industries.

Look at Iraq, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Bosnia, Ukraine. Do I need to name more? Because there are more. There are just a very few 3rd world countries that are not controlled, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba. The rest are controlled by either United States, United Kingdom, China, or Russia.


Easiest way to control a country is to gift it with freedom and lend it money. United States is the leader in this type of control. If they don't take money though, then they go after weapons of mass destruction. :)
