It is a rare combination - he both knows the research, and knows common misconceptions and critques. That's why I found his books valuable - as a cognent summary of knowledge from Dr Buss and PUA forums.

"The Player's Handbook" (by Rollo Tomassi) has a chapter on Alpha Widows. I've had a couple extremely awkward encounters which confused me until that chapter. I wasn't trying to create Alpha Widows, but I flirted with too many women, and it appears some of them plugged me into their "ideal man" fantasies. Tomassi's book nailed it, explaining my prior experiences. I made a list which helped me be on my guard later.
