"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

The problem with "falling in love at first sight" so quickly, is usually that you CAN'T actually fall in love with the actual person in front of you, you are falling in love with your pre-conceived imaginations about them, and then rushing RIGHT past the real person when you are with them. That's why dudes need to learn to be cautious about "love at first sight."

The simplest thing to do to try to do a good job of "slowing down," isn't to plan specific "slow down" activities, or to date someone else, or even to schedule extra 'not-together' time.

What you need to be doing, is changing your OUTPUTS to INPUTS. Focus on listening to her when you are together or conversing, and not on how wonderful she makes you feel. When you find yourself thinking about how great the future will be if she sticks around, take a deep breath and shift to the present, and how to coordinate with what she's actually dealing with here and now.

The more REALITY you can get into with her, the more likely things are to work out, even though it also means seeing that she isn't as perfect as you might think now.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Just focusing on the first line of your message, I have no idea where 'love at first sight' came from. The reality is that its usually 'I wanna bonk you at first sight'. That's not love. For that matter, I don't know if anyone 'loves' me.

I hate how some narrow-minded people could not conceive the idea of someone loving me because I am not good looking, not realizing that life is bigger than looks. Usually its people my age and younger who make such pre-assumptions- they think its all about sex.
