"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Most guys here have a pretty good idea of the ****y and funny thing because it just plains WORKS. Actually, I like to call the "funny" mode "wacky" because that's how it works for me.

Its not enough to be "funny"....as in telling a good story, joke, and effective neg-hits, because any chimp can figure out how to deliver a funny line.

The real trick is to use your creative intelligence in THAT situation (relevant to her and your circumstances at the time).

The other trick is to not cross over into "weird" territory with the wackiness.

Good Wackiness should not only demonstrate your ****iness, but also your perceptive intelligence: Its the core of being witty.

Example: You're talking with a girl at a mall and that elevator music is being piped in in the background. You say:

"So, is Hootie technically a blowfish"?

She gives you the strange look. And so you repeat yourself.

"Is Hootie technically a blowfish"?

Then you point toward the ceiling and explain: "You know, the elevator junk is haunting my subconscious. Since they're playing Hootie on there, I figured I'd ask the first person this nagging question"....

Now...if you had said something like that WITHOUT the overhead music, it would be WEIRD. Unrelevant. Unspontaneous.

If you're still not sure, watch "the OFFICE" on NBC.

Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) has this thing down. He's lowkey, ****y, funny, relevant, and never weird. This kind of intelligence re assures women and makes them comfortable around you.

DWIGHT (Rain Wilson) on the other hand is always weird.

But he's also FUNNIER than Halpert. But it doesnt work romantically.

He doesnt know how to be ****y, funny, and wacky without the weird.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

I forgot to add that being wacky and CORNY is also ok.

A lot of guys avoid corny lines (like the blowfish comment) and strive for something WAY too sophisticated.

It rarely works. Corny on the other hand almost ALWAYS works because its a level of satire that is a staple of our western culture.

Therefore, wacky comments about the 70's, bad hair, dumb blondes, lawyers, and whatever else can almost always work if you know how
to run your game.

Very tangible, specific advice. Thanks friend.

I agree by the way, though Krasinski has the luxury of scripts to help him look good. I'm a big fan of the show however and will quote some really nice lines in terms of the whole C&F thing.

Jim and The Purse Girl:

J: Hey I'm Jim, what's your name? (said with strong eye contact and a real smile)
K: I'm Katie, hey you sit right out there don't you?
J: (smiling) Yes, that's what I'm best known for. Sitting right out there.
J: So I was wondering if you could tell me about purses... but listen Katie, don't try to sell me anything... I'm only here to learn.

He's clearly in control of the situation; we've got some eye contact, name repetition, quick wit, slight neg hits (she's grasping at things to say with the 'you sit right out there' comment and he calls her on it in a subtle way).

Another really good example is Jim with Karen. In this situation, Jim has been assigned to supervise her on some project because of some screw up that she was responsible for. Karen is feeling very unsure of herself and insecure, Jim exercises both wit and sensitivity though.

J: Hey what's up.
K: Ugh nothing, they're out of my favorite chips... oh but don't worry... you're not the supervisor of that. (she's kind of a downright b*tch here, Jim plays it absolutely perfect though)
J: (deadpan serious expression) Actually... that's where you're wrong. That falls under my jurisdiction as your project manager... and I've decided that we're not doing anything, until you get the chips you require.

Karen smiles and walks away, Jim has made her feel great and special.

Anyway, The Office and Jim / John Krasinski has some REALLY terrific examples of the wit, intelligence and types of conversations that work. The scripts are kept very much in the scope of day to day reality for the most part... but do keep in mind that they still are scripts. Nonetheless, they're worth seeing for general ideas.

I think the best show to watch for aspiring DJs though is Keys To The VIP. This is a Canadian show where 2 contestants go head to head in a pickup situation at a night club in Toronto. Everything is completely real and unscripted. None of the women are actors. The men claim to be true DJs with some serious game. We get to sit back and watch as they try to get women's phone numbers.

Format is usually something like this:
1st round: FFA, they can say whatever they want to whichever woman their opponent chooses to try and # close.
2nd round: They MUST constrain themselves using a given challenge. Some include:
- Starting the conversation by insulting her shoes.
- Using nothing other than questions while talking to her.
- Telling them you're an artist who lives in your parent's house.
- Trying to c*ckblock your opponent while he tries to pickup.

It's a seriously entertaining and educational show to watch. It's %100 real, no actors, no scripts, no rehearsal. It's a real hit/miss show though and I bet it'll get canned. Catch it while you still can guys.

Also (and I can say this since without hesitation since I'm confident in my manhood) I really think John Krasinski has the PERFECT balance going for him in terms of his look. He's got this sort of mix... something about him just looks very pleasing and inviting, he looks friendly and kind all the time, yet he looks intelligent and sexy at the same time.

I can honestly say that if I was a women, this dude would melt my frigid heart in a split second. Brad Pitt may be sexy, but John is captivating and unique.

/end of gayness

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Actually one technique of Jim's that I've adopted with (what I'd consider) success: calling women by their last names.

It really sets a nice playfully condescending tone to the conversation by referring to them in this way.
