The girl I'm dating has severe depression...

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Sounds like you have made a decision. I jsut came out of a 2 year relationship with a girl with depression. She is a nice, smart and good looking girl but after she went off zoloft she was irritable all the time. In the end, it just wasn't worth it. Good chance girls with depression with have severe post natal depression

I dated someone with depression and mental problems. Everything seemed normal - if you were not paying attention. But in the end, it was too much maintenance, too much care and patience required. You really have to love someone to stick around. I'm a bit selfish right now and need to worry about my own problems and challenges, so I broke that one off.

Back burner? I'd recommend moving on.

if you're interested to know how to avoid and spot chicks with mental problems, watch the episode of 'the mighty boosh' series 3 featuring the 'strange tail of the crack fox'. that's what a mental chick's like.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

My interest level in her has dropped to negative numbers, I only make contact for support, since I've been in a similar situation I try to help the way I can without putting myself in the line of fire....
