"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

The carnivore diet: yah or nay?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

I don't like the argument our ancestors couldn't find many carbohydrates, so we shouldn't eat them

Evolution is a complicated subject. How long does it take for changes to manifest?

It can't be too long, because Europeans adapted to drinking cow's milk pretty quick. We're talking hundreds of years, right?

So if that's the case, then any argument referencing further back is null and void

I eat grass fed beef liver steaks 3 times a week and some ground beef ancestral blend of beef liver and beef heart as main beef source. Alot of pasture raised eggs. You can also get a good nut butter and make sandwiches on the go. Drizzle it with raw honey. I still eat other protein and carbs. I try to stick to whole grain sprouted carbs, jasmine rice, organic white potatoes (I make dank french fries with olive oil on the air frier). The occasional medium pizza to remind myself of getting this far in life.
Life is short, my guy. Sleep well, fvck good, train and enjoy food.

i do agree and i especially hate the paleo diet for this reason. first, just because our ancestors did it a certain way, doesn't mean it was optimal. second, even was optimal for them, that doesn't mean it still is now. after all, we spent much of our time physically active, and now we are sedentary. throw in tens of thousands of generations of genetic and epigenetic mutations, new environments, new foods, and its not at all obvious what has changed. we know so little about the body and brain its laughable.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Paleo man ate a lot of bugs, grubs, and worms, but that doesn't sell the diet very well.

And lived to be 35 if they were lucky. Not to mention the animals and plants of that era were vastly different; we have bred them to our liking.

not exactly. i mean actual caveman era, maybe, but that was more likely due to being killed than anything. throughout most of human history, living to old age actually wasn't that unusual (especially in places like ancient greece/rome) , but infant/child mortality was so high that it skewed the average life expectancy so much to give the impression people only lived to 40.

the point about selective breeding is interesting too. the overwhelming majority of wild plants are either useless or straight up toxic, the cost benefit is laughable for the amount of calories and nutrition they provide. i simply don't buy it that they were ever a staple of our diets. even fruits were kinds worthless, they were mostly just starch , thick shells, and had a metric ****load of seeds that are equally toxic if crushed. most vegans seem to have this implicit assumption that plants and fruits have always been like they are today and are these noble lifeforms that solely exist to sacrifice themselves for our benefit. they fear GMOs, without realizing all modern crops are also GMOs, and know nothing about how natural selection works. honestly pretty narrow, unenlightened thinking.

if someone wants to make the argument that modern produce is in fact nutritious in a unique enough way to be optimal, maybe i can get behind it, but i simply don't buy the idea it was ever optimal in an ancestral environment or necessarily must be optimal for everyone by default.

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

I'm actually thinking of going Vegetarian.

My protein would be whey powder, milk, potatoes, and vitamins etc
You are pretty much guaranteed health problems with veganism or vegetarianism.

Not a factual statement.

Potatoes aren’t sufficient as a protein source. Whey and milk are obviously fine. Also note that legumes + grains in conjunction are complimentary proteins.

Vegetarianism is a great longevity diet but it will be quite difficult to build muscle or compete athletically on such a dietary pattern without the aid of a professional nutritionist.

I tried the carnivore diet for two weeks. It worked, except for low energy. I needed carbs. I now do one meal a day with 30% carbs. I get the same benefits. It took a couple of weeks to adjust.
