The back from the dead girls

I am 40
When a girl doesn't become responsive to me and is giving me quick 1 or 2 word text responses I will completely shut down and not respond. I take it as disinterest and wish to retain my value as a man by not chasing her. Sometimes the next day, I will get hit up with "Good Morning :-D" or something similar. I will completely shut down and not respond. I don't ever want her to believe I am chasing after her. I think back to the night before and think, "You missed your opportunity" and then refuse to respond. A lot of times these same girls will hit me up a week to 3 later, like "hiiii!" on a friday or saturday night. I refuse to answer them because of the lack of communication stated above. So, I am calling this type of girl, "the back from the dead girl". Am I being too harsh? I don't want to walk into her frame and buy in to the hii if it is just a "I'm getting no attention and I am desperately trying to get somebody to respond to my text msgs" if it is just a trap where she use the emotional/social attention temporarily and then move on again. I'd like to know your guys opinions. Some of these girls have had sex with me in this situation and some not (if that even matters to my question).

OP you have a good self respect system, obviously try not to be to much of the Terminator (I made this mistake a few times, disqualified them the first sign of them not ticking the behaviour i wanted)

but yeah it makes me sick when they drop back in the with the "Hiii" DM
